Buffer Kit


Kit of parts to produce sprung buffers suitable for large 7 1/4" gauge or 10 1/4" gauge. This is the design used at Watford and is of a similar size to buffers historically produced by Ian Allan, Cromar White and similar manufacturers.

Most of the parts are CNC machined from EN8 steel whilst the buffer head face is laser cut from 8mm steel.

     

    The kit comprises the following set of 'key parts' :

    • CNC Machined Buffer Stock
    • CNC Machined Buffer Head Spindle
    • CNC Machined retaining bar/rod, threaded M16 at rear
    • Laser cut 8mm head, available in 3 different sizes:

     

    • 3" diameter round head
    • 3 5/8" diameter round head
    • 3 5/8" x 6" oval head
    The parts will require welding and use of a press to assemble
    .
    The kit does not include spring, nuts or bolts, you will need to supply these.

     

    Backing plate is 3" x 3". Mounting holes are 8mm diameter at 2" (50.8mm) centres. See pictures for overall dimensions and mounting dimensions.
